Teaching Centre

At Canoe Creek our great teaching Pros have a first class Teaching Centre to work with.

In addition to our excellent driving range, our centre includes our PGA spec putting green as well as a second chipping green with both sod and sand bunkers, all adjacent to Barr’s Bistro and our pro shop. In addition, we have a second putting green flanking our number one tee boxes.

All our practice greens have been built and are maintained to the same exacting standard as our golf course.

Be sure to utilize our practice facilities before your next round and see what a difference it can make. For lessons call any one of our Golf Professionals, who will be pleased to help you with a series of lessons or just a simple tune-up. Group lessons are available as well as private sessions, and we offer a variety of packages to suit your schedule and your budget.

Our Pros will also be happy to help you with club selection and custom fittings, ensuring that you maximize your game with the right equipment for you.

Tim Dedels
Born in Red Deer and raised in Edmonton, I started playing golf at the Edmonton Golf and Country Club. I became an accomplished player while enrolled in their junior program, and spent my weekends, holidays and summers working in the back shop there.

After leaving high school I was an assistant at the Riverside Golf Club for several years, but decided to branch out into other fields including accounting and retail.

In 1980 I relocated to Penticton and returned to my first love, the golf business, accepting a position as the Head Golf Professional at the Twin Lakes Golf Resort. Twin Lakes was a 9-hole facility when I first arrived, but in 1986 we enlarged the golf course to 18 holes and added a driving range and RV Park. This allowed me to expand the facility to include a full academy where I could teach all aspects of the golf swing. I taught clinics for the local high school as well the RV Park residents on a regular basis, as well as offering private and semi-private lessons on all facets of the game to the general public.

After 25 seasons, I left Twin Lakes, and spent one season at the Summerland Golf and Country Club as an assistant before my move to Salmon Arm and Canoe Creek Golf Course prior to the course’s opening in 2007.

For the last few years, I have been involved in Ultimate Golf clinics in the winter months, as well as continuing to offer private lessons at the fabulous Canoe Creek Golf Course from May to October.

Teaching is a passion of mine and I am particularly interested in the skills and development of adult beginners. Watching their progress is rewarding for both of us.
